RESIDENTIAL
Evanston Addition The project consisted of a one-story addition to an existing Evanston residence that replicated the form and details of the existing residence. The original two-story farmhouse had been expanded in 1928 by adding a two story addition to the north eliminating the original one-story Kitchen and Screened Porch and unifying all other work by applying a stucco exterior and simplified details throughout. The present addition provided a new Kitchen that could overlook the rear yard and a Breakfast Room with additional storage to replace a 17-year old remodeled Kitchen. Details and proportions of the existing roof, overhangs and windows were replicated in the new addition which also provided a new rear entry and a Deck that could also be accessed from doors that replaced windows in the Family Room. The cedar trellis above the Deck utilizes round wood columns that repeat the column details of the existing front porch of the residence.
