Lagoon Building The renovation and restoration of an existing landmark park shelter along the Lake Michigan lakefront in Evanston. The renovation including demolition of a previously constructed enclosure at the east end of the building that had completely deteriorated and which serves as a meeting-party space as well as a warming space when the adjacent lagoon is used for skating in winter. Existing doors and windows were either restored or replaced with new windows and doors to replicate the original designs and laminated glass was installed to deter entry if broken. Handicapped access was improved for the two toilet rooms. The roof, drainage system and other elements were replaced, planter boxes restored, masonry was restored and all trim and other wood elements were painted. The food service facility at the west end was also repaired on the exterior and all permanently applied signage removed and restricted to removable panels.
