HISTORICAL
Callaci-Suffredin Residence The restoration of the front façade of a historic landmark and one of the only residential projects designed by Solon Beman, the architect-designer of the Pullman community and several notable Chicago landmark buildings including the Grand Central Station, and the Studebaker Fine Arts Building. The initial project included the design of the main entry porch and stairs to replace a more recent open stair and wrought-iron railing staircase that had been constructed forty years previously. The new porch maintained the architectural character of the main roof, projecting beams, stucco infill and the applied wood trim patterns that were found to have been added to the original design by Beman during construction of the home. The project was awarded an Evanston Preservation Award. Subsequent projects included internal renovations to the Kitchen, Family Room, and 2nd Floor Bedrooms, Baths and Office-Porch.
